Fresh out of high school, I was convinced that I would work in the music industry when I got older for I loved music so much and still do. I went to various shows and music festivals quite frequently and worked/interned for companies like Live Nation, Vh1/MTV, and Decaydance Records. I was sure and somewhat afraid that I’d still be going to shows and concerts well into my 30s and be the outcasted cougar hanging out with a bunch of teenage girls. But as life would have it, it is a chapter that is behind me now but one that I still cherish very much.
Should the stars align and the timing be just right, I’d love to go to a show or music festival in another country to see how the vibe differs from the atmosphere back home. One festival in particular that I’ve had my heart set on for years now is the Soundwave Festival in Australia. I’d love to see some of my favorite bands play an “underground gig” somewhere like Germany, Belgium, Japan, or anywhere really. It would be really incredible to get to know the local scene of a bunch of different countries so I could broaden my music horizons. I often think that’s the best way to get to know a country is to people-watch at a concert.
Have you ever been to a music festival in a different country? If so, which one, who are some of the artists that played, and how much fun was it?
