If the Road Junky Retreat (RJR) goes out in 2013, you can bet I will be on the trip. I discovered the RJR trip at the end of last year, and at first, I thought to myself that I’d never make it through 6 days out in The Sahara with complete strangers. Then again, I figured I’d be up for the challenge as it would, indeed, be a leap outside of my comfort zone. And isn’t that what we’re all about here? Demolishing comfort zones and kicking fear to the side of the road?!
Every February, the RJR takes a small group of people out to the edge of the Sahara Desert for a week of meditation, hiking in the sand dunes, yoga, aikido, nights around the bonfire playing music, dancing, and body expression workshops. If the RJR falls in the middle of your RTW itinerary, you may have a computer with you, but how much do you want to bet there isn’t Wi-fi in the desert? The RJR is meant to be a spiritually cleansing experience that doesn’t include technology and working facilities. Enjoy the peace away from your computer, work, and connection to loved ones back home for a few days.
While “roughing it” in the desert, it is a chance to give yourself a break from everything that demands your attention on a daily basis to bond with friends-to-be in one of the most exotic locations in the world. It will undoubtedly be one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life.
Ideal Location: Morocco / The Sahara
Projected Price: $1000 USD

Every Monday, I will reveal one thing on my bucket list that I hope to accomplish one day (get it?), and hopefully, you’ll feel inspired to share one item on yours. Let’s share dreams and encourage each other to cross one off as frequently as possible.
