One Day Monday – Take a Cooking Class in Italy

After a long and stressful day, Thai food is typically what I turn to for comfort, but when I’m feeling creative, inspired, or like I want to treat myself to a nice dinner, Italian is the winner. Lately, I’ve found myself resorting to Italian based meals more than usual, and I don’t know if it’s because they’re easier to prepare, I have Italian in my blood, or both. Not to mention the fact that whenever I hear someone suggest Olive Garden or Bucca Di Beppo for dinner, it doesn’t take much to get me on board.

While I’ve become accustomed to whipping up Italian meals with grocery store ingredients, I crave even more to learn how to make some authentic Italian dishes like Italian meatballs, a variety of pasta dishes made from scratch with fresh herbs, tiramisu, and gelato from the people who know best. I’d love to become well-versed in all of the different types of meals that come standard in an Italian household outside of pasta and pizza as well.

It would be a real treat to learn how to make different pasta noodles from scratch and experiment with different sauces from alfredo to a creamy tomato vodka sauce. So when the day finally comes that I make it to Rome, I’ll splurge and overindulge in a cooking class where I’ll pretend I’m creating my own version of Julie & Julia.

After all, you know what they say, when in Rome…
